Since many people spend almost half of their life at work, staying safe and healthy in the workplace is as much as important as keeping secure at home.
This was the rationale behind a recent seminar by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Western Pangasinan and participated in by officers and staff of Bangko Pangasinan.
During the five-day session held in the provincial capital of Lingayen, Bangko Pangasinan management and employees were taught the importance of a healthy and safe working environment.
Included in the lectures was knowing the basics of identifying work risks and hazards and how to reduce or eliminate them altogether.
This involved skills and knowledge in safe and unsafe conditions and accident prevention in terms of housekeeping, machine and electrical operation.
Various safety measures were also introduced in emergency situations such as during earthquakes, fire and bomb threats.
The mandatory seminar, as provided for in Section 16 (b) of RA 11058 and Section 3 of DO 198-18 on occupational safety and health (OSH), was held from May 27-31 at the Consuelo Hotel and Chinese Restaurant. XXX
